20 Jan Instagram for Hospitality: what works?
We’re living in a digital, visual world. Photos and videos are everywhere. Brands convince us to buy, take action or become active fans through content. Pretty pictures grab our attention, high-paced, adventure videos play endlessly in our feed and influencers promote the coolest stuff to us.
It’s a content game. Social platforms like Facebook and Instagram have grown rapidly over the last couple of years. The younger generation is focused on visual content. They read less, their concentration span is shorter and guess what: they are selective. You might not have guessed this since we see youngsters swiping and liking away, but they’ve got so many choices to make each day, they’ve become masters in picking their likes quickly.
What’s going on?
As a hospitality brand owner you might not know the slightest bit about these social platforms. Or maybe you are on Instagram yourself, but you’re usage isn’t any similar to the way the younger generation uses the platform.
And to make it even worse: there’s a lot of stuff that doesn’t work on Instagram. The algorithm is harsh, the amount of brands to follow is huge and the competition is high. However, from the daily Instagram users, 200 million of them look at company profiles every single day. With such an amount of Instagrammers interested in brands, you shouldn’t give up your hopes.
What at least needs to be done:
Now, if you really want to leverage your Instagram game, there are a couple of important things that need to be sorted out first:
- High quality content: your photos and videos need to be beautiful and interesting.
- Text: the copy that goes along with your posts needs to be engaging and match your brand’s style and tone-of-voice.
- Frequency: you need to post often and at the right times.
- Engagement: you need to reply to comments, actively like users photos and be present on the platform. You can’t just be there to post – you need to use it, too.
- Professional: you need to have your profile set-up adequately with all the necessary details like your address and website.
Well, we already knew that…
But if you’ve already Googled on ‘how to succeed on Instagram’, these things shouldn’t surprise you anymore.
So what can you do? Well, we got 5 options, and you might have to use them all.
- Engage beyond borders
