As a true Dutch girl, I love good bread. Artisanal and baked fresh in the early morning. In the Netherlands, we’re spoiled with the best bread literally everywhere. Almost each supermarket has its own bakery inside! Unfortunately this wasn’t the case in Costa Rica. You can imagine my happiness when I arrived at Pandeli and learned that Hasan, the owner of the wonderful café, was just as much into good bread as me.
Hasan started with Pandeli in 2016. After many years of success with Sofia (a Mediterranean restaurant in the same street) he wanted to bring the breakfast and brunch culture he knew from Europe to Costa Rica. After the success of Sofia and with the restaurant operating smoothly, he felt passionate to start another dream: a restaurant that would serve that same quality breakfast/brunch experience which he knew from living in Hamburg, Berlin, Vienna and London. An experience made possible through fresh, home-made bread and other top-notch imported products. Like cheese and different cuts of meat from Spain and Italy and olives from Greece. And of course, Costa Rican coffee. Pandeli even has its very own coffee brand!
